Today I learned that you can get inexpensive software that’ll run on an iPad that links up with your flight simulator of choice to turn said iPad into an instrument panel or radio stack. Hmm - looking at this I’m getting seriously tempted to get a new bulb for the projector (I found a Mitsubishi XL2U at the Goodwill Outlet that appears to just need a bulb) and go for some big screen simulation and see if I can make myself airsick.

That is one sweet looking setup. Do you already have the yoke?
Get it set up like that and go fly parabolas in a 707!

I don’t have that particular yoke but I have something similar:
And I have a bunch of other controllers:
I haven’t tested the Xbox controllers, but they’re USB and I'd expect a PC to recognize them.

H opefully the bulb solves the projector issue. IIRC those bulbs are pricey but not too crazy ($50?).

The projector does power up and then throws a bulb error, so I have high hopes that it’s salvageable. I remember the old days when bulbs were several hundred dollars, but was surprised when the last one I replaced for the projector I used in CAP was less than $15. A bulb for this Mitsubishi should be somewhere in the $25-50 range. I didn’t spend the money because I didn’t know what I would do with the projector, especially since the value of these things is so minimal, but with a project in mind it might be worth fixing.

Sweet, I’ve heard about these. My old man is looking to build something similar.
IPads have been legally certified in general aviation for years, even being used as primary navigation tools. Pretty nice endorsement for Apple. If you’re a private pilot, it’s almost a requirement now if you want to make life easier.
I mean, that’s basically all the instrument panel in fancy new jets are, anyway.
